The 4th Inning program has landed in MLB The Show 26, and it doesn't feel like a small mid-season refresh. It feels like the kind of drop that makes you rethink half your Diamond Dynasty squad before playing another Ranked game. The XP path is the main attraction, especially for anyone grinding toward 400,000 XP and that Boss Choice Pack. If you're building through rewards, packs, flipping, or saving MLB 26 stubs for the right move, this inning gives you plenty to plan around, not just one obvious card to chase.

The XP path has real lineup value
The reward track isn't just filler on the way to the bosses. Mike Piazza and Steve Carlton give offline and online players useful options before the biggest choice even arrives. Piazza can slot in for anyone needing more pop behind the plate, while Carlton gives lefty balance to rotations that are usually stacked with right-handers. Then comes the real debate: Roger Clemens or Rafael Devers. Clemens looks built for players who trust power pitching and like attacking the zone. Devers is the safer bat for many lineups, especially if you need left-handed thump in the middle of the order.

    CardSeriesBest Use
Roger ClemensBossTop-end rotation arm with power stuff
Rafael DeversBossMiddle-order bat against right-handed pitching

Steve CarltonXP RewardLeft-handed starter for rotation balance

    Pitching gets nastier this inning
You'll notice the pitching options right away. Jacob Misiorowski brings the kind of fastball-slider mix that can make people swing early all game. Cristopher Sanchez is a different problem. His sinker, stamina, and clutch rating make him more of a long-game arm, the type who can save your bullpen during a tough run. In relief, Cade Smith is probably the name most competitive players will test first. Jojo Romero matters too, because good left-handed bullpen cards are always useful, even if they only face two batters.

Use Misiorowski when you want velocity and swing-and-miss pressure.
Use Sanchez if you prefer sinkers, weak contact, and longer starts.
Use Cade Smith in late innings when strikeouts matter more than contact management.
Keep Romero ready for right-handed-heavy lineups that struggle with lefty release points.

The new bats aren't just collection pieces
Cody Bellinger's Spotlight card should play well for people who value defense, clutch hitting, and a clean swing. His contact against lefties makes him less one-dimensional than some power outfielders. Paul O'Neill is the quieter upgrade, but don't ignore him. A right fielder with strong contact, vision, and clutch can be a pain in Ranked, especially for players who put the ball in play instead of hunting only perfect-perfect swings. Pete Crow-Armstrong might be the most fun of the bunch. With 99 speed, stealing, fielding, reaction, and arm strength, he can change innings without needing to hit a homer.

    What players should watch next
Jacob deGrom's 100 Win Club Milestone card will pull plenty of attention too, mostly because his fastball-slider combo always translates well in The Show. The next content dates matter just as much as these cards, though. June 9 brings a new Multiplayer Program, Event, Program, and Ranked season, while June 12 adds roster changes plus a Legends and Flashbacks Collection. That means prices, lineups, and the meta could move quickly. If you're looking to adjust your squad or buy MLB 26 stubs before the market shifts, it's worth watching which 4th Inning cards become trusted starters and which ones fade after the first week.
